Those temporary bridges are fixed on the implants, not a removable denture. The goal is to restore dignity and basic function quickly while the biological foundation is still settling: implants integrating, soft tissue healing, and your bite adapting under careful guidance.

The adaptation period: why gums change after Stage I

After surgery, gums do not keep the same shape they had on the day temporaries were fitted. Over roughly 6 to 18 months, soft tissue adapts, swelling settles, and the contour around the bridge evolves.

If a permanent bridge is made too early - before that contour is stable - the fit that looked good on day three can later show spaces, food traps, or an unnatural look at the gum line. Waiting for adaptation is not delay for its own sake; it is time for biology to reveal the shape the final restoration should follow.

Stage II: permanent hybrid bridges shaped to healed gums

Stage II is when permanent hybrid bridges are fabricated to conform to the new, healed gum anatomy. In our pathway, this is a separate visit after the adaptation period - typically planned when healing and implant integration support a long-term prosthetic design.

Because the final bridges are designed around the matured soft tissue, they can sit with closer, more predictable contact along the gum line. That helps reduce the open gaps patients sometimes notice when a final prosthesis was made before healing was complete.
